The container has undergone some changes to meet evolving needs. The side door container was developed for one of these requirements. A customized form of ISO container, side door containers are designed to facilitate loading and unloading of cargo that does not fit from short door lengths (usually oversized cargo).
Side door containers, as the name implies, have doors on the long side of the container. Unlike containers that have doors only on the shorter end, these containers have two pairs of doors. A normal door along the width and a special door along the length. Continue reading to discover everything about these containers.

Know the side door container
The side door container, which shares the same functionality as a typical dry cargo container, is a more practical and efficient version of the former. Open from the side, these containers provide easy access to huge and oversized cargo. These doors can be partially or fully open to access the interior from the long end of the container.
They are usually available as cubes with a height of 20 feet, 40 feet, and 40 feet. Doors are made of steel or tarpaulin for high durability and tensile strength. Flat steel panels are commonly used for doors instead of corrugated steel, increasing storage capacity. A rubber seal is attached along the opening to provide moisture resistance.
Dimensions: Side door container
All containers are created according to the standard size set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The side door container is available as a cube with a height of 20 feet, 40 feet, and 40 feet. The internal measurements and capacities of these containers are as follows:

How much can it fit in a 40-foot sidedoor container in terms of volume?
380 big trees. Or 600 large packing boxes. Or the contents of eight one-bedroom houses.
However, to simplify things with standard size, the European pallet size (1.2mx 0.8m) allows you to fit 30 pallet stacks in a cube container with a height of 40 feet side doors. For an American pallet (1.01mx 1.21m), it fits in a stack of 25 pallets.
Advantages and usage of side doors
These containers are really versatile and very convenient.
You can easily load and unload oversized equipment and machines from the side door container, which is difficult to handle with ordinary doors. This also saves on the cost of cranes and open-top / hardtop containers.
Side doors allow you to pack your goods more conveniently from the long open end of the container, maximizing space. Also, pallet trucks and forklifts have more space to work in more space, which saves time.
With side door containers, cargo management is very easy and functional, as you can get a complete overview of the goods when the long end of the container is fully open. Items can be loaded and unloaded much faster than ISO containers.
Side door containers are commonly (and independently) transformed as homes, offices, cafes, pop-ups, etc., as well as shipments. Widely used at festivals and events as it offers economical options with minimal setup. These containers are durable, safe, weatherproof and easily customizable to your requirements.
